HDPE Boston Round Bottles
The Boston Round bottle, also known as a Winchester bottle, is distinctive in its classic shape. Characteristic of the Boston Round are its round body, rounded shoulders, and narrow screw neck opening. Made of HDPE, these bottles are traditionally used for pharmaceutical, chemical and laboratory applications, personal care packaging, and more.
Key benefits:
- Made of durable HDPE plastic for good chemical compatibility
- High shatter resistance level
- Flat base is stable for filling
- Straight walls ideal for easy labeling
Available in a variety of neck sizes. The first number refers to the diameter (in mm), and the second refers to the closure depth, style and thread. Pair with a variety of closures including Flip Spout Caps (71814), Disc Top Caps (71815), Dropper Tips (71817), Dispensing Pumps (71819), Fine Mist Sprayers (71820), Treatment Pumps (71822) and Screw On Caps (71824).
High density polyethylene (HDPE) is the most commonly used resin. This economical plastic has good impact and chemical resistance, is naturally translucent and flexible. HDPE works well in below freezing temperatures, heat compatibility varies. Maximum fill temperature is generally around 171°F; however, testing is recommended with your specific product and application. Distortion occurs between 220° to 250° F.
Natural-colored containers are not actually colored. This is the natural color of the plastic, which is a milky translucent color. This translucent color shows product level of the container.
Boston Round bottles are also available in Glass (72011), LDPE (72210) and PET (72220). See our HDPE or PET Guide to help decide which is right for your packaging needs.
HDPE or PET Plastic Bottle, which one is More Suitable for Pharmaceutical Packaging? The choice between HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) and PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) for pharmaceutical packaging is a complex decision that depends on several factors, such as the type of medication, shelf life, storage conditions, and environmental concerns.
