Pharmacy Spring Cleaning — Your Pharmacy Cleaning Checklist
Posted by Total Pharmacy Supply on May 2nd 2023
Spring is officially here, and with it comes a chance to start fresh. As pharmacists, it's important to take this opportunity to give your pharmacy the spring cleaning it deserves. The best way to do that is with a comprehensive checklist. Below are some of the essential tasks you should consider completing this spring:
- Clean and organize the shelves: Take this chance to tidy up your pharmacy, clean off the shelves, and restock inventory. Some inventory items you might need may include PPE equipment, first aid supplies, prescription packaging, syringes, and other items you may not restock regularly. Need help restocking? - Sanitize surfaces: Not only is a good cleaning important for appearance’s sake, but it’s also important for health reasons. Make sure all counters, screens, and other high-touch areas are sanitized and disinfected.
- Check expiration dates: Make sure all products and medications are still within their expiration date. If not, they need to be removed and properly disposed of.
- Test the equipment: Make sure all medical devices, such as blood pressure monitors, thermometers, and digital scales, are in working order. Run any necessary tests and calibrate if needed.
- Update safety protocols: With the ever-changing regulations in the industry, it’s important to stay up to date on all changes. Spring cleaning is a great time to update any existing documents and make your staff aware of any new protocols and guidelines that need to be followed.
- General cleaning: Take some time to wipe down windows, dust shelves, vacuum floors and upholstery, and mop the pharmacy. You'll be surprised by how much cleaner and brighter your pharmacy will look.
By following this checklist, you can make sure your pharmacy is ready for spring! Not only will it look great, but it will also be a great opportunity to make sure your pharmacy is running smoothly and safely.
Happy spring cleaning!
