TPS Celebrates our Hospital Partners in Honor of National Hospital Week
Posted by Emily Thompson on Sep 1st 2020
It’s the middle of the night and you’re woken by the shrill cry of your new born. Rushing into the room you dread the worst only to find your fears confirmed when you touch their little body: fever.
Or maybe you’re doing a bit of DIY renovations around the house and your electrical saw jumps, nicking a pulsing artery in your hand.
You could even be one of the 1,665,540 battling a 2014 new cancer diagnosis.
Regardless of the specifics, when your health and livelihood are in immediate danger or you’re recovering from a life-threatening illness there’s only one place to turn—your local hospital. While most of us view hospital stays as a negative, it’s important to take the time to appreciate they great work they do in our community.
As a nod of acknowledgment and gesture of extreme gratitude to the institutions that keep us all safe and healthy, we’re proud to celebrate our loyal North Texas hospital partners at Parkland, JPS and Texas Health Presby Dallas this National Hospital Week.
They’ve been up to some pretty amazing things. Check out these impressive profiles!
Parkland
The Parkland Health & Hospital System cares for thousands each day and has a well-known reputation for serving vulnerable community members such as those with special needs.
According to figures compiled and released last year, some new 581 patients per day occupied their hospital beds. That’s in addition to the over 2,700 outpatient treatments and more than 1,800 primary care seekers at Parkland’s many Community Oriented Primary Care health centers.
On days that end in ‘y’ Parkland also welcomed 28 new lives into the world while 20 inpatients received care in Parkland’s renowned Burn Center.
JPS
JPS Health Network runs 12 community health centers and a Healing Wings specialty clinic to serve its Tarrant County families. Recently, they were recognized as a Level 3 Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) care from the National Committee for Quality Assurance.
With this patient-centered approach goals include “increasing access, communication and patient involvement in the primary care setting”.
JPS facilities operate with a total 537 beds from a central Patient Care Pavilion. The five-story acute care facility serves the community alongside an outpatient care center and a dedicated facility for psychiatric services.
Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas
Since 1966 Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas has provided its signature compassionate care to Dallas-area residents. The 898-bed acute care hospital is a recognized clinical program leader, and has been ranked by “US News and World Report among the nation’s best hospitals in digestive disorders, orthopedics, and neurology and neurosurgery”.
They recently added another win to their growing list of accomplishments when the Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation (ALCF) recognized them with an “official designation as a Community Hospital Center of Excellence” for their patient-centric approach which includes individualized care and targeted treatment of lung cancer patients.
While it isn’t nearly enough time to show the full extent of our gratitude, we’re proud to celebrate 2015 National Hospital Week, the nation’s largest health care event, by honoring three of our wonderful hospital partners.
Each of which capture and epitomize this year’s theme, “Where miracles happen every day”.
From all of us at TPS and the community at large- THANK YOU!
